How to get good at identifying crystals
Real identification leans on a handful of observable clues: colour (but many minerals come in several colours), lustre (how the surface reflects light — glassy, metallic, waxy, pearly), Mohs hardness (what scratches what), streak (the colour of the powder), and crystal habit (the shape it grows in).
